The City and County of Denver approved an appropriation of $875,000 from the Parks Legacy Special Revenue Fund to facilitate the acquisition of 1060 South Emporia Street, a 1.94-acre property in the Windsor neighborhood. The purchase, funded in part by a $75,000 contribution from the Denver Park Trust, aligns with Denver Parks & Recreation’s Strategic Acquisition Plan and the Parks Legacy Fund Five Year Plan. The new park will address a significant gap in park accessibility, benefiting approximately 1,700 households. An additional $200,000 is allocated for a vision plan, due diligence, and restoration or removal of existing trees, bringing the total project cost to $950,000.
This acquisition supports Denver’s efforts to provide equitable park access and recreational space in underserved neighborhoods. The development of a new park will enhance community well-being and environmental sustainability.
