The City and County of Denver has approved a contract extension with The Salvation Army to continue operating the Stone Creek (Best Western) Non-Congregate Shelter for an additional three months, through March 31, 2025. This extension allocates $1,200,000 to maintain shelter operations, ensuring continued access to housing-focused case management, support services, and transitional housing resources. The shelter serves approximately 188 unique households, prioritizing a low-barrier, Housing First approach to assist individuals in securing permanent housing. Staff provide 24-hour guest services, facilitate onsite food service, conduct room checks, and coordinate with community organizations for additional support.
Extending operations at the Stone Creek Shelter ensures continued emergency housing for vulnerable individuals experiencing homelessness. By maintaining case management and support services, the program helps participants transition into stable housing and reduces the risk of long-term homelessness.
