The Denver City Council approved a $35,475,000 federal grant under the Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods program. With an additional $32,500,000 city match, the $68,000,000 will fund projects such as a pedestrian bridge at Brighton Boulevard and 48th Avenue, the Bettie Cram Drive Bridge and 48th Avenue Greenway, an at-grade rail crossing at National Western Drive South, and environmental remediation of the former DPS bus barn site. These projects aim to reconnect the Globeville and Elyria-Swansea neighborhoods and improve mobility, safety, and environmental conditions.
This grant enhances urban connectivity, addresses environmental challenges, and provides critical infrastructure upgrades, fostering economic and social development in historically underserved neighborhoods.
