The City and County of Denver approved the purchase of 1060 South Emporia Street, a 1.94-acre property in the Windsor neighborhood, for $750,000. The acquisition aligns with Denver Parks & Recreation’s Strategic Acquisition Plan to increase equitable access to parks. This property will be transformed into a new neighborhood park, serving approximately 1,700 households in an area with limited green space. Funding comes from the Parks Legacy Fund and a $75,000 contribution from the Denver Park Trust. Additional costs of $200,000 are allocated for vision planning, due diligence, and restoration.
This acquisition helps close the 10-minute walk or roll gap to parks for Windsor residents and provides much-needed recreational space in one of Denver’s high-need areas. The project supports the city’s goal of equitable park access and sustainable urban development.
