The City Council of Columbus authorized the Director of the Department of Development to enter into a grant agreement with One Columbus for up to $1,300,000.00. These funds are designated to support economic development activities focused on business attraction, expansion, and retention within the downtown area, central city neighborhoods, and growth areas of Columbus. The funding also commits to One Columbus's efforts in workforce development, area-wide and international marketing, fostering entrepreneurship, and investment in public sector infrastructure. The contract amount includes an increase of $600,000.00, with $500,000.00 allocated for operating support to the Regional Housing Coalition and an additional $100,000.00 for economic development marketing. One Columbus, formerly Columbus 2020, is the economic development organization for the 11-county Columbus Region, aiming to make it the most prosperous region in the United States by increasing jobs, payroll, and investment.
