The Columbus City Council authorized the Director of Finance and Management to enter into a construction contract with General Maintenance & Engineering Co. for the Roof Restoration & Replacement Phase II (2024) project, totaling $2,863,000.00. The project includes replacing roofs, masonry, sheet metal works, equipment movement, and pipe replacement for four city buildings: 1393 East Broad St., Fire Station #5, Fire Station #27, and Police Substation #2. General Maintenance & Engineering Co. was selected as the lowest, most responsive, and responsible bidder at $2,860,000.00, with an additional $3,000.00 allocated for prevailing wage services. The legislation also approves the transfer and appropriation of funds from the General Fund Income Tax Set Aside Subfund to the Construction Management Capital Improvement Fund. An emergency designation was requested to ensure roof installation can occur in optimal weather conditions.
