This ordinance authorizes the Director of Finance and Management to execute a new 20-year lease agreement with the Franklin County Historical Society for the City's property at 333 West Broad Street, extending occupancy for COSI. The lease maintains the annual rent at $1.00 and transitions the tenancy directly to the Historical Society, removing the State of Ohio as a party to the lease. The current lease, in place since 1997 and originally with the State, expires on June 9, 2025. The tenant exercised its option for a 20-year renewal, and the parties updated the lease format to modern standards. With bond payments for museum construction fulfilled, the new lease will commence June 10, 2025 and run for an initial 20-year term. The legislation declares an emergency to ensure no interruption of COSI operations. Rental income continues to be deposited into the General Fund. The ordinance was approved by Council on May 12, 2025, signed by the Council President on May 12, and by the Acting Mayor on May 13, attested by the City Clerk on May 14, 2025.
