The Columbus City Council has approved the purchase of 6.14 acres at 1873 East Cooke Road for $1,170,000 as part of the Cooke Woods Preservation Project. The land, acquired from BA Cooke LLC, is located in the North Linden community and will contribute to the permanent preservation of mature forest ecology in Columbus. The acquisition is funded through the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund 2283 and the Voted Bond Fund 7702. The City Attorney’s Real Estate Division has been authorized to complete the transaction, including surveys, title work, and appraisals. The emergency approval ensures that the purchase meets the closing deadline in late March 2025 and allows the Recreation and Parks Department to proceed with the project without delays.
This acquisition expands Columbus' green space and preserves critical forested land in the North Linden community. It supports environmental sustainability and enhances recreational opportunities for residents.
