The Columbus City Council has authorized the City Attorney to file complaints for immediate appropriation and acceptance of remaining real estate necessary to complete the Alum Creek Trail - Mock Road Connector Project. The project aims to improve public right-of-way near Sunbury Road and Mock Road, extending west to the new Hudson Street Greenway. Previous ordinances and resolutions established the city’s intent to acquire this land, but negotiations with some property owners were unsuccessful. The city will proceed with acquiring parcels through legal means, ensuring the project moves forward. The total authorized expenditure of $40,616 will cover fair market value compensation for five affected parcels.
This project enhances Columbus' trail network by providing a critical connection between Alum Creek Trail and the Hudson Street Greenway, promoting walkability and accessibility. The land acquisition ensures timely project completion, benefiting pedestrians and cyclists.
