Loyola University Chicago received stormwater approval for its proposed six-story nursing, forensic sciences, biochemistry, and chemistry building located at 6551-81 N. Sheridan Road. The project, budgeted at $165 million, aims to construct a 90-foot tall academic and research facility. The stormwater approval was granted on June 5, 2025, providing 10,572 cubic feet of detention and volume control, exceeding requirements by over 25%. This project is part of a larger application to the Chicago Plan Commission under the Lake Michigan and Chicago Lakefront Protection Ordinance, with a hearing scheduled for July 17, 2025. The development emphasizes sustainable practices, including LEED Gold Certification goals, bird-safe glass, native landscapes, and aims for 80% waste diversion and 25% indoor water use reduction. The project also targets significant community benefits, including meeting Business Enterprise Program (BEP) goals with 25% MBE/DBE and 7% WBE participation, and creating approximately 1800 temporary construction jobs.
