The City Council of Chicago passed an ordinance authorizing the Commissioner of Transportation to negotiate and transfer certain remnant properties. These properties were acquired for the Burley Avenue Roadway improvements project (along South Burley Avenue, South Carondelet Avenue, and East 122nd Street) but were determined to be uneconomical and not needed for the project's completion. The ordinance allows these uneconomic remnant parcels to be conveyed to owners of original acquisition parcels as replacement properties or as part of an economic settlement. This measure aims to facilitate the efficient disposition of surplus land and streamline the acquisition process for the roadway improvements.
