The Chicago City Council approved a substitute ordinance authorizing the Commissioner of Transportation to negotiate economic settlements for the transfer of certain "uneconomic remnant parcels." These parcels were originally acquired as part of the Archer Avenue and Belt Railway Company of Chicago Grade Separation Project but are no longer necessary for its completion. The ordinance allows these remnants to be conveyed as replacement parcels to property owners whose land was acquired for the Archer Project, providing alternate locations for those disrupted by the city's acquisition efforts. This measure is deemed in the best interest of the city for the efficient disposition of unneeded public property.
