The Chicago City Council approved Ordinance O2025-0016703 on June 18, 2025, sponsored by Alderman Ronnie L. Mosley. This ordinance amends the Chicago Zoning Ordinance by reclassifying the area bounded by the public alley next north of and parallel to West Edmaire Street; South Davol Street; West Edmaire Street; and the public alley next east of and parallel to South Vincennes Avenue. The previous zoning designations of RS-2, Residential Single-Unit (Detached House), and RT-4, Residential Two-Flat, Townhouse and Multi-Unit Districts, have been changed to a unified RT-4, Residential Two-Flat, Townhouse and Multi-Unit District. This reclassification allows for increased density and diverse residential development, including two-flats, townhouses, and other multi-unit structures.
