This informational presentation by the Department of Planning and Development introduced The South Branch Framework Plan. The plan aims to review, align, and coordinate past planning efforts along the South Branch of the Chicago River, Bubbly Creek, and the Sanitary and Ship Canal. It seeks to develop unified recommendations and an implementation strategy for achieving river edge and connectivity improvements. The study area covers approximately 3 miles from Ping Tom Memorial Park to Western Avenue, encompassing parts of the 11th, 12th, and 25th Wards. This initiative consolidates previous reports and studies, focusing on demographics, riverfront infrastructure, public realm and open space, transportation access, and land use and zoning.
