The Chicago City Council, through Alderman Ruth Cruz of the 30th Ward, has approved a permanent prohibition of parking at 2730 N Meade Ave at all times, except for drivers displaying disabled parking placards. This override exempts only handicapped vehicles and applies continuously with no exceptions. The memorandum was initiated by resident Johana Sauza and formalizes the restriction under Chicago Municipal Code Chapter 9-64 governing curbside parking. Signs will be installed by the Department of Transportation at the resident’s expense and must clearly state the exception for handicapped parking. Enforcement will be carried out by the Chicago Police Department’s parking enforcement division. The restriction intends to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and ensure safe pedestrian movement in this residential block. The decision replaces any previous curbside regulations along this section of Meade Avenue. Notice of the change was circulated to local residents via ward newsletters and city bulletin postings. The prohibition takes effect immediately upon installation of the designated signage.
