This ordinance amends section 4-4-331 of the Municipal Code of Chicago to prohibit cannabinoid hemp product sales within the Pullman-Roseland-Lake Calumet Residential Areas. It defines these areas by a detailed legal boundary encompassing segments of Lowe Avenue, 91st Street, the Calumet River, I-94, and adjacent thoroughfares. Under the amendment, no licensee (or their agent or employee) may possess, sell, offer for sale, barter, exchange, or otherwise furnish cannabinoid hemp products, or conceal them on any licensed premises within the defined areas. Violations carry fines of $2,000 to $5,000 per offense, with each day of continued violation constituting a separate offense. Enforcement under section 4-4-280 allows for license suspension or revocation. The recitals cite the proliferation of unregulated psychoactive hemp products, the targeting of minors in these communities, and the lack of federal safety standards. This ordinance takes effect 60 days after its passage.
