  • Address: Ohio Street between Kostner Avenue and Kilbourn Avenue, Chicago, IL
  • City: Chicago
  • State: IL
  • Category: Infrastructure Development

This ordinance authorizes the Commissioner of Transportation to install honorary street-name signs on Ohio Street between Kostner Avenue and Kilbourn Avenue extended, designating the segment as "Damron Way" in recognition of Damron Corporation’s 40th anniversary as the first national minority supplier to McDonald's. The designation is honorary and will take effect upon passage and publication of the ordinance. Sponsored by Alderman Jason C. Ervin of the 28th Ward, the resolution follows a unanimous recommendation from the Committee on Transportation and Public Way on April 16, 2025. The signage honors Damron’s contributions to Chicago’s West Side manufacturing sector and its commitment to local hiring and innovation in tea production. The street segment retains its official address and zoning functions but will feature commemorative signs celebrating Damron’s historic milestone. Installation and maintenance of the signs will be managed by the City’s Department of Transportation under standard guidelines for honorary designations.
