Moving Archer Forward is a planning initiative led by the Department of Planning and Development to envision the future of Archer Avenue between S. Halsted Street and S. Cicero Avenue. The 6.5-mile corridor study, funded by a $285,000 grant from the Regional Transportation Authority and $15,000 in corporate funds, will evaluate land use, zoning, and development opportunities. A key focus is improved access to transit and equitable transit-oriented development (eTOD) near CTA Orange Line stations. The initiative includes existing conditions analysis (market, zoning, traffic, public realm), land use and zoning recommendations, public realm and transit access improvements, and development of eTOD site scenarios. The project involves extensive community engagement, including meetings, focus groups, surveys, and pop-ups at existing events, and is projected to conclude in March 2026.
