The Armitage Industrial Corridor (AIC) Framework Plan is an ongoing planning process initiated by the Department of Planning and Development in spring 2024. The goal is to assess the effectiveness of the AIC, which is generally bounded by Grand Avenue, Oak Park Avenue, Cortland Street, Bloomingdale Avenue, and Cicero Avenue, and includes Planned Manufacturing District (PMD) 15. The plan aims to guide future growth and allow the AIC to adapt to changing market conditions. Community engagement has included 2 working group meetings, 3 community events, 13 tours of industrial businesses, and engagement with over 20 businesses and 200 individuals. Draft goals include strengthening the AIC as a job center, enhancing infrastructure, preserving historic identity, and improving communication between employers and residents. This presentation was an informational update to the Chicago Plan Commission. The draft plan is expected to be published for public comments by April 1, 2025, and finalized for adoption consideration by the Chicago Plan Commission in May 2025.
