The 95th Street Corridor Plan is a comprehensive, community-informed Equitable Transit-Oriented Development (ETOD) plan for the approximately two-mile stretch of 95th Street between Halsted Street and Cottage Grove Avenue in Chicago. Developed through an 18-month planning process initiated in 2023 by the Department of Planning and Development (DPD) and the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), the plan aims to guide future growth and neighborhood improvements. It incorporates a Health and Racial Equity Impact Assessment (HREIA) to ensure equitable outcomes. The plan includes recommendations across six focus areas: Empower Community Voices, Environment, Equitable Development, Community Wealth Building, Mobility & Safety, and Health & Wellness. It proposes strategies for transit improvements, mixed-use developments, affordable housing, green spaces, and economic opportunities. The plan is currently a draft for public comment, with final adoption scheduled for Winter 2024/25. It serves as a guide for future development decisions, informs zoning changes, and supports the long-term vision for the corridor study area. The plan is grounded in three key elements: preserving existing housing and businesses, redeveloping vacant land and buildings, and catalyzing change through anchor developments near transit stations. The plan seeks to address historical inequities and promote shared prosperity.
