The Charlotte City Council considered a public hearing and subsequently adopted an ordinance for the voluntary annexation of the 24.457-acre Sunset Meadows area in northern Mecklenburg County. The property, owned by Beatties Ford Partners, LLC, is currently vacant and zoned N1-A, allowing for single-family detached residential uses, duplexes, triplexes, and other limited uses. The annexation is intended to extend municipal services to the site to facilitate the development of 63 detached single-family units. The petitioned area consists of five parcels: 025-181-12, 025-181-13, 025-351-19, 025-351-20, and 025-351-21, located along the east side of Beatties Ford Road and south of McClure Road. City departments, including Stormwater Services, Police, Transportation, Fire, and Solid Waste Services, anticipate minimal to no impacts on their resources, and the projected revenue from the annexation is expected to exceed the cost of extending services. The annexation is consistent with the City Council's voluntary annexation policy approved in March 2003. The ordinance will take effect on August 11, 2025.
