On May 27, 2025, Charlotte City Council approved a one-year, $1,200,000 contract with Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region under the Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resale (ARR) Fund. The contract will support the acquisition, renovation, and resale of 15 vacant or rental single-family homes targeted to low- and moderate-income buyers earning no more than 80% of Area Median Income. Under the ARR guidelines, the average city subsidy per unit may be up to $80,000, with additional down-payment assistance layered through existing programs as needed. Units will be focused in designated Corridors of Opportunity to catalyze neighborhood revitalization. Buyers must secure first-mortgage financing and agree to owner-occupancy; neither Habitat nor the city will allow these homes to be used as rentals. The city or its nonprofit partner retains a right of first refusal on each property to ensure long-term affordability.
