The Charlotte City Council adopted an ordinance to annex a 33.938-acre tract known as Lemmond Farm (DB 33626-667) into the city limits effective May 12, 2025. The annexed territory, formerly under unincorporated Mecklenburg County jurisdiction, will become subject to all Charlotte municipal laws, taxes, and services. The site lies near Albemarle Road and Lemmond Farm Drive and is currently vacant with an existing MX-1(CD) zoning overlay; it will later be rezoned to N2-A(CD) to accommodate up to 124 attached residential dwelling units. The ordinance directs recording of an accurate map with the Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds and the NC Secretary of State and assigns the new area to City Council District 5. Upon annexation, the area will receive city water, sewer, stormwater, and roadway improvements and will be governed by the Charlotte UDO. The annexation follows a public hearing held on May 12, 2025, after due notice in the Mecklenburg Times.
