On May 12, 2025, the Charlotte City Council unanimously adopted a Municipal Agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to secure $6,227,000 in state Highway Trust Funds for Phase I of the Robinson Church Road widening project, paired with an equal local match funded through transportation bonds. The agreement specifies that construction costs are eligible for reimbursement and follows the City’s established cost-sharing philosophy as reflected in past Municipal Agreements. Concurrently, the Council amended the 2024–2025 budget (Ordinance No. 807-X) to appropriate the full state allocation into the General Capital Projects Fund (4001) under project number 4288550040. Funds will be carried forward beyond the fiscal year until project completion. The resolution empowers the City Manager and Clerk to execute the agreement and ensures coordinated project delivery, which includes design, right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation, and construction consistent with applicable local and state standards. Public outreach and stakeholder coordination will accompany each phase to minimize disruption and maximize multimodal access.
