The Charlotte City Council has approved a resolution to initiate the upset bid process for a 0.065-acre city-owned parcel located near East 27th Street and North Brevard Street. The property, part of a larger 0.180-acre parcel (Parcel ID 083-051-09), was originally purchased for the Blue Line Extension project and later transferred to General Services for the Cross Charlotte Trail Project. The land has since been deemed surplus and is now eligible for sale. Gambills II, LLC, which owns an adjacent parcel (Parcel ID 083-051-03), has submitted an offer of $57,000 along with a required five percent deposit. As per North Carolina General Statute §160A-269, the upset bid process allows other interested parties to submit higher offers within a 10-day period after public notice. The final sale proceeds will be deposited into the General Fund.
This land sale enables the city to repurpose surplus property, generating revenue while facilitating potential transit-oriented development near the Blue Line. It supports Charlotte’s strategic land management goals and enhances opportunities for urban redevelopment.
