On August 11, 2025, the Atlanta City Council granted a Special Use Permit (SUP) for a hotel at 981 Howell Mill Road, NW and 1000 Watkins Street, NW. The property, owned by 981 Howell Mill, LLC, spans 2.293 acres (99,864 SF) in Land Lot 150, 17th District, Fulton County, Georgia. The approval was conditional, as recommended by both Staff and the Zoning Review Board. The hotel project is situated at the intersection of Howell Mill Road, NW and Edgehill Avenue. This permit was granted under Section 16-34.007(1)(j) of the City of Atlanta Zoning Ordinance. Building permits will only be issued in compliance with Section 16-25.003, “Special Use Permits, Procedural Requirements,” and any other imposed conditions. District regulation variances require separate application to the Board of Zoning Adjustment. The Zoning Committee, NPU, and ZRB all recommended approval, with conditions from Staff and ZRB.
