The Atlanta City Council approved Ordinance Z-25-43, sponsored by Councilmembers Byron D. Amos and Dustin Hillis, to amend the 1982 Zoning Ordinance. Specifically, it adds a new Section 16-18H.004 to Chapter 18H (Home Park District Regulations). This amendment prohibits the issuance of short-term rental licenses within the SPI-8 Home Park District. The ordinance was initiated due to concerns over the proliferation of short-term rentals impacting the personal safety, comfort, and distinctive character of residential neighborhoods. The Zoning Committee voted favorably on the substitute ordinance (3-1), and the "Bring Forth Substitute" motion was approved unanimously.
