On May 19, 2025, the Atlanta City Council adopted a substitute resolution amending Resolution 01-R-1795 to revise the composition and procedures of the SPI-16 Midtown District Development Review Committee. The committee will now be known as the Midtown Development Review Committee and will include provisions for alternate members. The resolution combines the SPI-16 Midtown Special Public Interest District Development Review Committee and the SPI-17 Piedmont Avenue Special Public Interest District Development Review Committee into a single Midtown Development Review Committee (DRC). The purpose of the DRC remains to provide formal comments on Special Administrative Permit (SAP) applications within the SPI-16 Midtown District and the SPI-17 Piedmont Avenue District. The committee will consist of nine members, with representation from various neighborhood associations, NPU-E, Midtown Alliance subareas, and MARTA. Members will serve initial five-year terms, renewable for two additional five-year terms, with a maximum term of 15 years. The Midtown DRC will convene monthly to review SAP applications, and written comments will be provided to the Office of Zoning and Development within one week of the meeting.
