The City Council of Atlanta approved the rezoning of approximately 15.2 acres in the Brighton Village Subdivision upon annexation from unincorporated DeKalb County to the City of Atlanta. All parcels in the area were rezoned from the County’s RSM (Residential Single-Family) classification to MR-1 (Multi-Family Residential). This action aligns the zoning regulations with the subdivision’s built environment, which consists of multiple single-family lots, and allows for multi-family residential uses under the new MR-1 zoning district. The ordinance follows the recommendation of the Office of Zoning & Development, which found the MR-1 designation appropriate given the existing density and character of the neighborhood. The rezoning map and boundary were officially recorded as Exhibit B, and all conflicting ordinances were waived by the City Council. The ordinance was sponsored by Councilmember Alex Wan (District 6) and adopted by the Council on May 5, 2025.
