The City Council authorized the Mayor to grant the Atlanta Urban Development Corporation (AUDC) an option to purchase two surplus City-owned parcels at 360 Richardson Street SW and 405 Cooper Street SW for the nominal price of $1.00, subject to easements for utilities and ingress/egress. The option term is 18 months, with authority to extend upon receipt of a third-party letter of intent, enabling AUDC to issue RFPs and negotiate redevelopment agreements for affordable housing. Both properties are currently vacant and unproductive, and their sale at nominal cost supports the City’s Housing Strike Force goals. This agreement builds on prior intergovernmental arrangements under City Ordinance 23-O-1385 and leverages AUDC’s redevelopment powers under Georgia nonprofit and housing authorities law. By vesting AUDC with site control, the City streamlines procurement of development partners to revitalize the neighborhood.
