The Atlanta City Council has approved the transfer of 0.767 acres (33,403.62 sq. ft.) of city-owned land at 0 Harwell Road NW to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). This property will be used for the I-285 at I-20 West Interchange Reconstruction Project, which aims to reconstruct system-to-system ramps and add collector-distributor lanes along I-20. The land has been appraised at $35,000, which GDOT has agreed to pay. The ordinance waives conflicting provisions of the Procurement and Real Estate Code to expedite the transaction.
This land transfer supports a critical infrastructure project improving traffic flow and safety at one of Atlanta’s busiest highway interchanges. The project will help reduce congestion and enhance regional mobility.
