The Phoenix City Council approved a rezoning request from Planned Unit Development (PUD) to PUD for the Grand Canyon University (GCU) Phase II Expansion. The expansion will allow for the development of new educational facilities, student housing, athletic facilities, and supporting infrastructure. The new PUD will increase the maximum floor area ratio (FAR) from 1.5 to 2.5 and allow for building heights up to 120 feet. The project is expected to be developed in multiple phases over the next 10-15 years, with the initial phase focusing on a new engineering building and additional student dormitories. The proposal includes provisions for increased landscaping, open space, and pedestrian connectivity within the campus.
