The New York City Council approved a zoning map amendment for 1720 Atlantic Avenue in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The action rezones the site from an M1-1 district to R7A/C2-4, R7A, and C4-4D districts. This change facilitates the development of a new 13-story, 140-foot-tall mixed-use building on a 48,300 square-foot lot. The proposed project will total 300,695 square feet of floor area (a 6.23 FAR) and include 300 dwelling units, 50,397 square feet of commercial space, and 19,909 square feet of community facility space. The development will also provide 116 parking spaces. As part of the Mandatory Inclusionary Housing (MIH) program, 84 of the 300 residential units will be permanently affordable. The approval followed a series of public hearings and was modified by the City Council before final passage.
