The Louisville Metro government proposed the South Central Neighborhoods Plan, an initiative to amend the Plan 2040 Comprehensive Plan. The goal is to create a unified vision for the Beechmont, Preston Park, Southland Park, Southside, and Wilder Park neighborhoods, aligning them with the city's broader comprehensive plan. Developed by the design firm Taylor Siefker Williams Design Group in collaboration with the Louisville Metro Office of Planning, the plan is the result of a multi-year process that began in May 2022, involving extensive community engagement. The plan focuses on key areas such as Land Use/Community Form, Housing, Mobility, and Health Equity, aiming to guide future development, preserve neighborhood character, and enhance the quality of life for residents. The Planning Commission staff recommended that the Metro Council approve the plan.
