The Los Angeles City Council has declared a 20,000-square-foot, city-owned property at 8507 South Broadway as 'Exempt Surplus Land.' This designation clears the way for Special Service for Groups, Inc. (SSG), a non-profit organization, to redevelop the site into a Mental Health Rehabilitation Center. The proposed facility will offer comprehensive 24-hour mental health support and rehabilitative services for adults over 18 experiencing behavioral health disorders. The project is being funded by California's Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program. The property qualified for the exemption because it is less than half an acre and is not located in a protected area.
