The Jacksonville City Council has approved the rezoning of a 6.35-acre site from Commercial Community General-2 (CCG-2) to a Planned Unit Development (PUD). The decision allows for the continuation and expansion of the Gateway Community Services campus, a non-profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation agency. The approved PUD accommodates the development of a 62,600 SF detoxification facility, along with other commercial uses and multi-family dwellings. The project is an expansion of an existing campus and also includes a recently closed portion of Osceola Street. The Planning Commission and Planning Department both recommended approval for the project, which they found to be consistent with the 2045 Comprehensive Plan. The City Council vote for approval was 17-0.
