The Jacksonville City Council has approved the rezoning of a 3.99-acre property at the southeast corner of Magill Road and Pritchard Road. The decision changes the zoning from Residential Rural-Acre (RR-Acre) to Commercial Neighborhood (CN), enabling the development of low-intensity commercial retail uses intended to serve the surrounding residential areas. The approval was contingent upon a companion Small Scale Land Use Amendment changing the Future Land Use designation from Low Density Residential (LDR) to Neighborhood Commercial (NC). The Planning Department and Planning Commission both recommended approval. The Planning Commission vote was 6-0, despite one neighbor expressing concerns about potential traffic and noise. The Land Use and Zoning Committee ultimately approved the measure 5-0.
