The rezoning was processed alongside a companion Future Land Use Map amendment (2025-0753) to change the land use designation from Public Buildings and Facilities (PBF) to Low Density Residential (LDR). The Planning Department and Planning Commission both recommended approval, finding the request consistent with the surrounding single-family residential uses and the city's 2045 Comprehensive Plan. The council vote was unanimous in favor of the ordinance.
