The Jacksonville Planning Commission voted 6-0 to approve a small-scale future land use map amendment for a 2.29-acre site on Beach Boulevard. The amendment changes the land use from Community/General Commercial (CGC) and Low Density Residential (LDR) to Light Industrial (LI) on 0.91 acres, and from LDR to CGC on the remaining 1.38 acres. This change is intended to facilitate the expansion of an existing commercial market on the property, which includes adding a food processing component. A companion application will rezone the property to a Planned Unit Development (PUD) to integrate the new land uses. The Planning Department recommended approval, finding the proposal consistent with the comprehensive plan's goals for infill development along a major commercial corridor.
