The Planning Commission approved a small-scale future land use amendment for a 5.35-acre property at 5713 Moncrief Road. The applicant, TNY Investment Corporation, sought to change the designation from Medium Density Residential (MDR) to Community/General Commercial (CGC) to allow for the development of a commercial business park. Despite a recommendation of denial from the Planning Department, which cited incompatibility with the surrounding single-family residential neighborhood, the commission voted 6-0 for approval. Commissioners were satisfied that the applicant would design the site with appropriate fencing to mitigate any negative impacts on the area. The decision allows the applicant to move forward with a companion rezoning request to a Planned Unit Development (PUD).
