The Jacksonville Planning Commission has recommended the approval of a rezoning for a 0.48-acre property located at 1636 Main Street North. The proposal seeks to change the zoning from Commercial Community/General-Springfield (CCG-S) and Planned Unit Development (PUD) to a new PUD. This change would permit the development of a veterinary office with an integrated bar and dog park within the existing 3,060-square-foot building. The property is situated in the Springfield Historic District and was previously occupied by a brewery. The Planning Department initially suggested a condition regarding landscaping for a new 10-space parking lot but later supported its removal after the applicant submitted revised plans. The Planning Commission voted 6-0 to approve the recommendation, which will now be considered by the Land Use and Zoning Committee.
