The Jacksonville Planning Commission recommended approval of a Comprehensive Plan amendment and a rezoning to modify an existing Planned Unit Development (PUD) for a 1.57-acre property at 7750 Merrill Road. The proposed PUD would remove a prior condition prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption and modify signage regulations. The property currently operates as a gas station with a convenience store and car wash. The allowance for liquor sales is connected to a related full-service grocery store project on an adjacent 7.9-acre parcel. The Planning Commission voted 6-0 to recommend approval to the City Council.
