This bill amends Ordinance 2011-721-E, as amended, creating the Eastside Small Area Plan. The plan aims to foster a walkable, mixed-income community that builds on the area's rich history and proximity to downtown Jacksonville, while also addressing issues of environmental justice and social equity. The plan proposes new zoning classifications, design standards, and infrastructure improvements to encourage infill development, affordable housing, and neighborhood-serving businesses. Specifically, it includes provisions for increased density in certain corridors, preservation of historic structures, and enhancements to public spaces and transportation networks. The City Council approved the Eastside Small Area Plan on September 24, 2024.
