The Jacksonville Planning Department approved a residential rezoning from R-1A to RM-50 for a new 140-unit apartment complex. The project includes two five-story buildings with a total of 140 residential units. The site is approximately 2.5 acres. Conditions of approval include a 10-foot landscaping buffer along the northern property line and a traffic study to be completed prior to final plat approval. The decision was made following a public hearing where concerns about increased traffic and school capacity were discussed. The board voted 5-2 in favor of the rezoning, citing the need for more housing in the area.
