The Columbus City Council approved a $2,000,000 grant from its Affordable Housing Bond Fund to National Church Residences for a new affordable senior housing development. The project, named The Scarborough, will be located on the Near East Side of Columbus and will consist of an 84-unit, elevator-served building for low-income seniors aged 62 and older. The development is a partnership involving National Church Residences, Trinity Baptist Church, and Nix Development Company. In addition to the city's grant, the project is funded through the HUD Section 202 Housing for the Elderly program and 4% Low Income Housing Tax Credits, with rental subsidies available for 45 one-bedroom apartments. All units will be designed to be 100% accessible.
