The Chicago City Council approved the rezoning of two adjacent parcels at 2821 N. Melvina Ave and 6148 W. Diversey Ave. The properties were rezoned from RT-4 Residential Two-Flat, Townhouse and Multi-Unit District and B3-1 Community Shopping District to a unified C2-1 Motor Vehicle-Related Commercial District. The action allows for the operation of a motor vehicle repair shop and outdoor light equipment sales and rentals. An existing one-story, 5,326-square-foot commercial building on the 18,729-square-foot lot will be retained with only cosmetic and maintenance improvements. The project will reconfigure existing parking to provide seven off-street spaces, including one ADA-compliant space. No new construction or changes to the building's bulk or height are proposed.
