The Charlotte City Council approved a contract not to exceed $2,200,000 with Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Charlotte Region to support single-family housing rehabilitation. The funding will assist in the repair of 55 homes owned by low- and moderate-income homeowners. This initiative is a response to the high demand for housing rehabilitation services, which surpasses the city's capacity. Repairs will concentrate on enhancing homeowner safety and extending the useful life of the structures, covering systems like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and roofing, as well as safety improvements. The contract term is for one year, with an option for a one-year renewal. Funding is sourced from the city's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
