The Charlotte City Council approved the voluntary annexation of the 41.746-acre Ahsul Phase 1 area, located on the south side of Sunset Road in northern Mecklenburg County. The property, owned by Sunset Rd Investments, LLC, will be cleared of five existing single-family homes to facilitate a new residential development. The annexation extends municipal services to the site for a proposed project of 142 duplex units and 69 triplex units, totaling 211 new homes. The city's analysis concluded that the potential tax revenue from the development will exceed the cost of extending municipal services, with minimal impact on existing city resources. The annexed territory is assigned to City Council District 2.
